Graphic T-Shirt Project
What was your job for this project?
My job for this project was to create an original design for the theme "The Original San Diego Beach Volleyball Club" from start to finish in Adobe Illustrator. The finished project would be sold at Urban Outfitters.
What was the design process you took to complete the project? Please list your steps below.
The design process I took to complete the project was choosing theme from a hat, sketching different designs for the theme, choosing the best design, downloading fonts, recreating the design with the pen tool in Illustrator, creating outlines and using the shape-builder tool, printing, cutting, and weaving the design from vinyl, and pressing the vinyl onto a shirt with a heat-presser.
What did you find most challenging about your design?
I found the shape-building step to be the most challenging because it was very repetitive and I had to start over a few times when I did it incorrectly.
If you can change one thing about your design what would you change?
If I could change one thing, I would add a transparent stroke to "San Diego" and have the fill be the gold vinyl so it would pop more.
What do you think makes a good graphic t-shirt design?
I think legibility makes a good graphic t-shirt because you need to be able to read it and understand it. I also think balance is important so the design is visually appealing.
