How do you believe your design relates to the corporate identity of your company?
I believe my design relates to the corporate identity of American Eagle because it uses the classic American Eagle ligature logo and symbol logo. It also uses burlap-like textures, which is commonly used in American Eagle's apparel.
How does your bag portray the “holiday”?
My bag portrays the holiday in its red, candy cane-like striped background, green Christmas trees, and the golden American Eagles, representing the stars on the Christmas trees.
Do you think that the company you designed for would really use your bag? Why or why not?
I think that American Eagle would consider using my bag design as a prototype because I believe that the bag is visually appealing, matches the corporate identity, and is overall a clean and festive design,.
What makes your bag Unique and Different?
My bag is unique and different because the colors and textures are different and refreshing compared to other bag designs, and it is unique compared to American Eagle's bag design from the rest of the year in that it was specifically tailored for the holiday season.
Describe the process in which you took to create the bag? (From beginning to end)
I started by choosing the brand (American Eagle) for my bag design and sketched the layout on an MC Square whiteboard. Then, I modified a pre-made bag template with the guideline and layer tools in Adobe Illustrator. I found the colors and textures I wanted to use for the bag, and created the background pattern with the pattern tool. After that, I found the trees, American Eagle silhouettes, and American Eagle font via Google. Using the trace, live paint, and clipping mask tools, I was able to turn these images into vectors and fill them with the patterns I wanted. After a peer review, I made adjustments to the design and sent it to the printer. The front and back of the bag design were printed and cut, then attached together and folded to look like an actual bag. With a hole puncher and a set of unused shoelaces from home, I was able to craft the handles. Finally, I took several pictures of the bag and used Adobe Photoshop to fix any of the mistakes on it.
